Intratec insulated crimp terminals are manufactured in accordance with the valid DIN 46237 standard. The metallic part of the cable lug is electrolytically pure copper with a very high degree of purity. Here the simple rule applies: the purer the copper, the better the conductivity and the lower the power loss, e.g. due to heat generation. All cable lugs offered here are tin-plated and thus resistant to rust development.

Instead of the widely used PVC insulation for insulated cable lugs, Spitzenspannung Elektrotechnik uses high-quality semi-transparent polycarbonate as the insulating material for its high-quality line of this article group (HQ). An essential advantage of the insulating material lies in the significantly better temperature resistance of the polycarbonate - not only compared to PVC (polyvinyl chloride), but also polyamide. While the temperature resistance of PVC is only -10°C to 75°C and polyamide covers a temperature range from -55°C to +125°C, polycarbonate with -150°C to +125°C is the material with the most comprehensive temperature range. A decisive reason for using polycarbonate is that it is halogen-free. When PVC burns, dioxins can form on the one hand, and hydrogen halides on the other, which form corrosive acids on the mucous membranes of the nose and mouth when inhaled and can cause additional severe damage to the respiratory organs. In this context, the fires in the London Underground (1987) and at Düsseldorf Airport (1996) should be mentioned. In practice, too, the advantage of semi-transparent polycarbonate is literally visible: through-dyed materials such as PVC prevent the possibility of visual inspection. The inside of the cable lug, which becomes visible, makes it possible to check at a glance whether the crimping was carried out properly.

It is not only possible to check whether all strands have been inserted correctly into the terminal lug, but also whether the crimping was actually carried out on the terminal lug and not only on the insulation.

The terminal lugs are available in any size in bulk and small packaging. The large packaging (e.g. 1000 pcs.) is delivered in a carton, the small packaging (e.g. 100 pcs.) is delivered in a sealed bag.

The cables are inserted into the cable lug and pressed using the appropriate tool. During processing, care should be taken to ensure correct pressing so that the cable lug is securely connected to the cable.
